In Hannon & Anor v News Group Newspapers Ltd & Anor [2014] EWHC 1580 (Ch) News Group Newspapers Ltd (NGN) made an application to the High Court to have claims brought against them by Sarah Hannon and Daniel Dufour, for infringement of privacy rights under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, struck out.

Misuse of private information and breach of confidence
In AVB v TDD [2014] the High Court granted an injunction but declined to award damages as to a solicitor’s claims against an escort for misuse of private information and breach of confidence, harassment,breach of contract.

A Right to be forgotten
The European Court of Justice has ruled that an individuals “right to be forgotten” was so strong that Google and other internet search engines can be asked to remove search engine entries against individuals which are “inadequate, irrelevant or no longer relevant” data from its results.
