Louis Walsh recieves apology from The Sun.

The Sun newspaper has apologised for an article published on the 15th March 2015 headlined “Louis in BGT ‘fix'”.

The story was about a band managed by Mr Walsh, Hometown, which got through the first round of the auditions of the Saturday night ITV show Britain’s Got Talent.

The front page had a picture of Walsh and the headline”Louis in BGT ‘fix'”and then the page 7 story quoted an anonymous source.

“It seems like yet another talent show fix.”

And it further quoted an anonymous music industry executive as saying,

“It looks like fast-tracking.”

At no point in the article did it say that Mr Walsh was aware of any fixing but the obvious implication was that he was, if only from the headline and his picture on the front page.

The Sun after correspondence from Mr Walsh lawyers quickly accepted the error and an apology appeared on Page 2 of the paper on the 17th April.

“A headline in our 15 March article on Britain’s Got Talent wrongly suggested that Louis Walsh had been involved in a ‘fix’ on the show.
We wish to make clear that we fully accept that Louis Walsh has not acted wrongfully or improperly in any way in relation to the show. We apologise to Louis for the embarrassment caused.”
