Privacy Injunction Tulisa Contostavlos

The singer and X Factor Judge Tulisa Contostavlos has applied and obtained an interim privacy injunction before Mr Justice Tugendhat on Monday 19th March 2012. A video purporting to involve her in a sex video had appeared on line.

Originally the stars spokesman had denied the authenticity of the tape.

  • “She is horrified that someone would go to the extreme lengths of fabricating a video.”
  • “It is absolutely not her. Tulisa has categorically never allowed anyone to film her having sex.”

The site Pappzd received 50,000 views after uploading the video normally receiving only 4,000. The site received a cease and desist notice and took the video down.

The judge granted an injunction prohibiting anyone from,

  • “using, publishing, communicating or disclosing all or any part of the film to any other person”

It was thought originally that the injunction was in false privacy, that is a claim for misuse of private information in relation to information which purports to be private information whether or not the information is true.   Now after the stars You Tube video that appears not to be the case

On her You Tube clip she confirms she is the woman in the video and says that the video shows her with her former partner Justin Edwards, aka MC Ultra and accusing him of posting it online.

Mr Edwards responded

  • ‘To find the truth both sides of the story should be heard b4 passing judgement #thatisall.’

The reasons for the injunction will be available shortly.
